Highlanders edge Bulawayo City in the Bulawayo derby

The football giants collected 3 points at Barbourfields Stadium after edging cross-town rivals Bulawayo City 1 to nil in a reverse fixture derby on the Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 22.
Highlanders came to this game after losing 2-1 to Whawha FC at Ascot stadium last Saturday.
Highlanders’ technical manager Baltemar Brito made only one change to the side that lost to Whawha FC. Stanley Ngala missed out due to a suspension, while Ray Lunga failed to pass a late fitness test but was named as one of the substitutes. Pritchard Mphelele made his return to the game following an injury he suffered in a match against Caps United. He started the match on the bench, and later came in as a substitute for Bukhosi Sibanda.
The game started slow with both sides failing to penetrate each other.
Bosso got the first chance in the 11th minute when Lynoth Chikuhwa’s cross found Godfrey Makaruse, who managed to bury it from close range to open the scoring.
Lynoth Chikuhwa followed up with another opportunity to double the cushion, but he blew his effort over from an unmissable point. Bukhosi Sibanda also had a crack at goal but missed his shot.
City failed to create goal-scoring opportunities in the first half, they played the match deep on their own half.
The game remained unchanged, and Bosso picked a victory to move to sixth place with 33 points.
