Zaku’s craziest teammate

He might have not had an immediate impact for the club on the pitch, largely due to the arm injury which sidelined him from the better part of the 2019 pre-season activities, but Bukhosi Sibanda did not take too long to settle and have an impact in the dressing room.

The former Bantu Rovers forward joined Highlanders in 2019 after a one-year stint with South African National First Division (NFD) side UBuntu Cape Town FC.

He quickly adapted to the Highlanders dressing room culture, becoming one of the most vocal lead singers in the Bosso dressing room.

The friendly Bosso dressing room environment helped the then 22-year-old forward to settle.

In 2019, Zaku, as Sibanda is affectionately known, and his teammates endured a poor start to the season under coach Madinda Ndlovu.

The team went for eight matches without tasting a league victory, but the players still found ways to lift up their spirits, despite all the criticism.

To deal with the pressure, the players needed some lighter moments in the dressing room.

We asked Sibanda who he thinks is the craziest character in the dressing room, and without hesitating, he picked Peter Muduhwa.

“Peter [Muduhwa] is the craziest player in our dressing room. He is always jovial. Peter can turn a serious conversation to a joke. He is a likeable guy, ” he said.

Despite being such a crazy character, Muduhwa is certainly one of the best defenders in the local league.

He was key in helping the team keep 20 clean sheets in all competitions last season.
