Highlanders Under 20 side Bosso 90 were knocked out of the Wafa Wafa Zifa Southern Region Division One tournament after succumbing to a narrow 1-0 defeat to an experienced Hwange side in a semi-final match that was played at White City stadium on Sunday.
Hwange got their winner through veteran midfielder Thabani Goredema who beat Bosso 90 goalkeeper Romeo Zimba from a set-piece 22 minutes into the first half.
The lads put up a spirited performance in the second half, but as fate will have it, they could not find an equaliser.
They could have found an equaliser through Tanaka Nyoni who failed to convert from a close range in the 63rd minute as his effort hit the side net.
Hwange coach Bongani Mafu was full of praise for the Highlanders project which he described as a young promising side full of energy.
Bosso 90 team captain Darlington Munkuli, Said: “the game was winnable, it was not tougher than what we thought, we lost but l’m happy with the performance of some of the players.”
“We have a very good young squad that can match any division 1 team and outclass it, we just need confidence ‘’, said Munkuli.
