The Highlanders FC technical team headed by legendary former Bosso and national team winger Madinda Ndlovu will make final match fitness analysis to their squad this Saturday as the Bulawayo giants host Chapungu FC at Barbourfields stadium – ahead of the Castle Larger Premier Soccer League (PSL) season opening round of matches.
The 2019 PSL season kicks off this month-end, with Highlanders opening up their season with a trip to Black Rhinos.
Bosso lost 0-1 to Hwange FC in a friendly match played at Colliery stadium last Sunday with coach Bekithemba Ndlovu attributing the loss to lack of match fitness.
Highlanders dominated the match, especially in the first half, but failed to find the back of the net and went on to concede what looked like a soft goal in the 37th minute.
Although the team looked in shape in terms of style of play, they showed signs on lack of match fitness as most of the players looked tired towards the end of the first half.
After the match, Ndlovu said although he was impressed with the boys’ ball rotation and reading of the game, he was not happy with the team’s transition from attacking to defending.
The Saturday match will help the technical team asses whether the training sessions they have been having after the Hwange defeat have brought in any desired changes.
Bosso will play the friendly match without Prince Dube and Mbongeni Ndlovu who are in camp with the National Under 23 side preparing for AFCON qualifying back to back matches against Mozambique.
Divine Mhindirira and Tinashe Makanda are also likely to miss the match as the two players are nursing some minor injuries.
Bukhosi Sibanda who missed the majority of the team’s training program due to an arm injury will also miss the match.
