de Jongh reacts to Chibuku Super Cup draw

Highlanders Technical Manager Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh predicts a tough quarter final clash between his side and the reigning Castle Larger Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions FC Platinum.

Bosso and the Platinum miners were paired together during a draw conducted in Harare on Friday afternoon.

de Jongh, whose side travels to Kariba for a PSL clash with other Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finalists ZPC Kariba has a lot of respect for FC Platinum, but insists Bosso will go for a positive result.

Highlanders who are clearly out of the PSL championship matrix will be hoping to go all the way to the finals and lift the Chibuku Super Cup to console their fans who endured a poor start to the season that saw Bosso spending the better part of the season languishing in unfamiliar positions.

“The quarter finals is a big clash between the champion of last season FC Platinum and Highlanders,”

“Platinum is a big team with a lot of experience and a top organization in the club. It is a tough game only we go for a good result,”

“We have respect for the opponent only believe in our qualities and believe in a good result,” said de Jongh.

To make it the quarter finals, Bosso dismissed bitter rivals Dynamos.

Prince Dube scored the only goal of the day to propel Bosso to a 1-0 victory.

On the other hand, FC Platinum beat Chapungu 4-3 on a penalty shootout to book their way to the quarters.

Last season Highlanders were eliminated by eventual losing finalists Harare City who beat Bosso 2-0 in the quarter finals, while FC Platinum were eliminated by Chapungu in the first round.

In other quarter finals, holders Triangle will face Harare City in what would be a repeat of last year final while Ngezi Platinum Stars will battle it out with Black Rhinos.

League debutantes Manica Diamonds will fight for a semi-final spot with ZPC Kariba.
