Ray Lunga and teammates remain focused

Highlanders winger Ray Lunga who scored the only goal of the match in the team’s 1-0 Castle Larger Premier Soccer League (PSL) match day nine win against TelOne FC will not be carried away by scoring the team’s first league goal at Barbourfields Stadium, but will remain calm and focused.

Lunga propelled Bosso to victory with a 17th minute strike which came from a neat exchange of passes from the Highlanders quartet of Nqobizitha Masuku, Brian Banda, Bukhosi Sibanda and Prince Dube.

Dube involved Lunga to the build-up with an intelligent defense splitting pass before the winger made a clever run into the box to beat an offside trap and calmly put the ball behind the nets – much to the delirium of thousands of Highlanders followers who have been patiently waiting for their team’s first league goal of the season at Barbourfields Stadium.

For Lunga, the goal and three points are a reward for the team’s hard work, and from the Sunday victory, the team will not put itself under too much pressure, but take each game as it comes.

“It felt great, we have been working so hard to get that goal. We thank God that it finally came yesterday (Sunday). l was happy to be given that chance to be in the team. But you know we have a strong squad and everyone is capable of doing the job whenever given a chance. We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves, we want to take one game at a time. So now we looking forward to the next game which is against ZPC Kariba,” said Lunga.

The win meant that Bosso move one place up, to 16th position with eight points, three points behind Dynamos who are occupying the 10th position.

This means that a win against ZPC Kariba, with other teams dropping points will see Bosso moving to mid table.

Highlanders are 14 points behind log leaders CAPS United, and it might be too early to rule them out of the championship race.
