Bosso beat noisy neighbors to go two places up

Tinashe Makanda and Prince Dube were on target as Highlanders romped to a convincing 3-1 victory over noisy city neighbors Bulawayo Chiefs to move two places up the Castle Larger Premier Soccer League (PSL) log table.

Dube who is fresh from national team lime light after scoring a brace in the warriors 3-1 victory in a Chan third round first leg match against Lesotho scored the first goal for Bosso in the 25th minute.

Makanda grabbed the second for Bosso 10 minutes later with a beautifully taken free-kick, before completing his brace in the 56th minute.

The two goals takes Makanda to four league goals of the season, eclipsing Ariel Sibanda and Ray Lunga as club top goal scorers.

Sibanda, Lunga and Dube are now joint second top goal scorers with three goals each.

Bulawayo Chiefs pulled one back through Desire Shumbaneke in the 85th minute, halting Bosso’s chances of keeping their 12th clean sheet of the season.

After the match an elated Highlanders Technical Manager Mandla Mpofu was full of praise for his side that dominated their opponents in all aspects.

“It took us some time for the floodgates to open, there was a little bit of pressure on us given where we are on the log at this moment,”

“We have been talking about these chances week in week out but l am happy today we a little bit clinical,”

“Our strikers Dube and Makanda managed to score today which is good,”

“Overall l think we controlled the game from the onset, we took the game to Chiefs who are a difficult team to beat but today it was an unbelievable perfomance,”

“Getting those three points will be our build up for the upcoming games,” said Mpofu.

Bosso are now on position 11 with 28 points, 13 points behind log leaders Chicken Inn who mauled Herentals 4-1 in another rescheduled match played at Luveve stadium in the same afternoon.
