Highlanders goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda who is serving the club for the 10th consecutive year has been entrusted with the captaincy for his loyalty.
Sibanda rose through the club’s junior structures and got promoted into the senior team in 2009. He has been with the Highlanders senior team since then.
The 30-year-old Sibanda has since established himself as one of the corner stones of the team in recent years. Sibanda has been named Castle Larger Premier Soccer League (PSL) goalkeeper of the season in two occasions.
He is the raining goalkeeper of the year after beating FC Platinum’s Petros Mhari for the award in 2018, the season that saw him keep 16 clean sheets, and serving penalties among other match winning serves throughout the season.
Sibanda will be deputised by Tendai Ndlovu and Nqobizitha Masuku. Ndlovu was promoted into the senior team from the club’s junior structures together with Sibanda is 2009.
Masuku rejoined Highlanders this season, after having left the club for FC Platinum at the end of the 2015 soccer season.
The trio boast of a lot of experience, and they will be expected to lead a very youthful squad who average age is 22.
